They have a watered down turn based battle system..but its lackluster. So yea this game will be dead to you then.

Definitely! The trailer for the first season paints it as “Family Guy in Space,” but quickly matures into something more like “Star Trek without a Stick Up It’s Butt.” Also has a pretty interesting way of discussing current events and social issues without being overly preachy or biased.
If you enjoy episodic, 90s-style, TNG Star Trek, it most definitely is enjoyable. A couple hiccups. A good deal of corniness. But that’s part of the whole package.
