One of my professors often says "Manche Probleme lösen sich von alleine; man darf sie bloß nicht dabei stören." (roughly translated: "Some problems solve themselves; one just isn't allowed to disturb them in the process.")

They're using DSA keycaps, which makes it a lot easier to manage the bottom row, but I still really hate that bottom row layout. It's horrible. I prefer my keys there to be even with one another, not all horribly mismatched.

Double o-rings? I can hardly actuate a switch with double o-rings. To each his own, though.

Look around on reddit's /r/MechanicalKeyboards subreddit. Ton of great info there, especially in the wiki linked in the sidebar.

$180 isn't really that crazy of a price in the world of mechanical keyboards, especially once you get into Topre territory. It's certainly more expensive than your run-of-the-mill Das Keyboard, but the NovaTouch is using Topres with Cherry MX-compatible stems so that you can actually replace the keycaps on it ever.

I thought that Comcast indefinitely suspended their data caps? I'm sure I've gone over the supposed data caps quite a few times now with no repercussions at all.

I use X-plore File Explorer. It can integrate with a bunch of different cloud storage accounts, FTP servers, etc. and handles .zip files. It's also got a dual-pane interface, which can be really handy at times.

WinSplit Revolution does this, and I think it's free, or at least the version I've got is. I just checked, though, and it's apparently it's no longer being actively developed, and the replacement they're advertising is paid (with a free trial). Boo.

That makes sense to some extent, and maybe my own experience is different from the norm, but in my area it seems really difficult to find work outside of a warehouse without a degree with a specific application (e.g. computer science, accounting, etc.), so trying to estimate a job would start off with a pretty shaky

And how should people with no meaningful workforce experience calculate these things? For example someone finishing their undergraduate degree and considering applying for grad school, not having held more than a summer job before. You can't really make any calculations based on your current earnings, since there

The sound of the keyboard depends largely on how you type, though the switch has some effect. Blues and greens make a loud, high click when actuated; whites make a softer click. Browns make no click, but you can hear—ever so slightly—the friction when you make it over the bump; clears make this more obvious because

From everything I've seen, read, etc. they're not "homegrown" at all. They're just rebranded Kailh switches, which are a Cherry MX-knockoff. It's yet to be seen whether Kailh switches are of similar quality to Cherry MX because they haven't been around long enough to really tell.

You should check out the /r/MechanicalKeyboards wiki (here: http://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKe…) and poke around some. There's a ton to know about keyboards, plus the subreddit community is pretty helpful, assuming you actually do read through the wiki first. There are also frequent stickied posts for general

They also have o-rings installed, which changes the feel of the board significantly. Maybe you're into that sort of thing, maybe not. Just know that it's very different with and without o-rings.

While I totally understand the comparison to that hack interpreter, I feel like I should point out the difference between translation and interpretation for those who don't know and always use the two interchangeably: translation is text-to-text, whereas interpretation is speech-to-speech.

For cleaning mechanical keyboards, I recommend reading through these:
