Yeah, a graph that ranks a bunch of countries with no regard to 'race' (ie UK or um, France, which has a large number of black residents) against "White Americans", "Massachusetts", "Multi Racial Americans" "Florida" and "African Americans" then sticks Brazil in there is totally trustworthy. Massachusetts is better…

thank you my dear. I see some folks slamming their self righteous ego at us. Make dem carry go jo!
Thank you for such an eloquent and thorough explanation!
it would go down because you would presumably be too knowledgeable and worldly and thus not accept the authority of your husband's superior intellect and rationality nor his position as the head of the house. Who wants a woman who is always questioning her husband anyway.
I'm genuinely astonished that people think this is anything but a clear, satirical inside joke.
I think the point is it's satire...
"I want a woman who's really smart. Nope smarter than that. Smarter...smarter...NO WAIT TOO SMART!"
aaaaaaaaah! YES. I've already bought multiple copies of this book as gifts—it's just so good. And I feel like I trust Lupita Nyong'o to do a good job with a movie of it. Yaaaaaaay!
I was at the Stylist Book Club event last night in London where Chimamanda confirmed this. The whole room was pretty delirious with delight.
We're upset the lead didn't go to a Nigerian, but we love Lupita, so this is the second best scenario
This is also what the (self-reporting) atheists cited in the Daily Beast article look like: young, white and with enough education/money to waste time standing on a hill contemplating their middle-class* ennui. Take a step outside communities that are largely represented by these demographics and we'll find the…
I think you're missing the point. When people talk about racism, the focus shouldn't be on the "nice" white people out there, and how their feelings are hurt by the fact that the conversation is even happening. Whites don't "suffer" because people talk about the racism that is part of our culture.
I can see where it comes from, though. The existence of trans people really puts the hurt on the orthodoxy that gender is myth and not binary.
I suspect you are like Sisyphus pushing that boulder up the hill, but thank you anyway. You expressed this beautifully, and with far more patience than I could muster.
Most people don't listen to people of color when we try to explain these things. So, it does become a futile endeavor to even try to explain. And while no person has the obligation to educate anyone, I'm glad that you could eventually see where we were coming from. For real, I don't see this as a victory like, "Oh,…
It's no point in even trying with these people. To them, her racism is just Chelsea speaking "without a filter." Something to admire. You can't help people who admire racism. Because they're racist.
don't bother with handler stans. who cares about racism when #solidarityisforwhitewomen.
