Bro, if you don’t trigger On Star at least once per lap you’re pussy-footing it.”

Ok, so first of all it’s 41K CAD, so more like 35-36K USD, and the base 4matic model is 37K CAD, so more like 31K USD.

I would like to see them try this with 3M 5200 permanent sealant.  That shit will rip the metal apart before it fails.

My answer is to try to avoid flying in planes at all costs, and instead drive cars and motorcycles as fast as possible. This is not a perfect solution, but it works for me.

3 articles about planes and 1 about a flying car. Time to rebrand as Planeopnik?

I always get the feeling he is not actually an experienced,  employed engineer...

What is there not to get? You see any other company that let's you order an EV today and have it by next week? You buy a Tesla because it's the only option if you want an EV. Volt looks like crap and no one else has anything on the market.

Agree on the caliper use.  Disagree on the pro views.  This is a general audience YouTube video.  A lot more people have digital calipers, so showing people a way to measure their own car with a tool they might have would have been great if he showed proper use.  Same with proud.  That's great engineering jargon but

Umn, orange peel has been around for a EVER! It has nothing to do with waterborne paint. It can occur in a multitude of ways. However, robotics eliminated that issue years ago. This just means this company wants to be a high end company and it fails.

Yeah, but that’s a British boutique brand, people expect them to be badly made.

That sounds rediculous. I’m sure that may work for some (in my opinion foolish) people. Whenever buying an expensive item, let alone one of the most expensive items you’ll probably ever buy, you should try it out. A company punishing smart shoppers by altering their return policy (a full 2/3rd reduction) because you

It also comes down to finishing process (after painting). Some small volume manufacturers can cut/buff/polish afyer painting to reduce visual orange peel. Most large volume manufacturers dont do much/any finishing after painting.

The Tesla is built in a FUCKING TENT. And it shows.

Lots of people do. It’s brand new. People expect paint blemishes on a used car, but brand new should be spotless.

That’s been a big measure of assembly quality for as long as there’s been an auto industry. It was a huge priority of Bob Lutz throughout his tenure as GM vice chairman, he would bring in competing cars he thought were more consistent and make their body engineering guys walk around them and take measurements.

Sorry you’ve been living under a rock, but panel gap is a real thing and has been for a while.

“All cars have quality issues!”

I inspect cars coming in for auctions, and Teslas are such a pain in the ass to inspect because of issues with the *paint and fit/finish. It usually takes two people to inspect them: one to find the damage and another inspector to try and determine if the recorded damage/defect came that way from the factory or not

Now playing

I never heard of panel gaps being an issue on any car before

It was Lexus’s whole marketing campaign back in the early 90's
