“Some sort of cliffhanger” is kind of understating just how utterly unresolved the movie was. It’s not like it wrapped up but left some sequel hooks to pique your interest. Not a single thing they set up in the movie was resolved and then the last few minutes added even more setup for the next movie.

I feel like it’s worth watching both, the original goes into a lot of detail the Brotherhood glosses over, so it’s worth watching for that. Then you can watch Brotherhood and see all the differences and how much better the story elements and characters are used and how much less contrived the plot and lore are.

Probably a bit less than 75%, they’re adding~230 to the ~475 in-game already so just over 700 out of ~1000. But then again they’ve made it clear that they aren’t planning on having a full national Pokedex in a game again.
