Are there people who don't do this?

I think people are condescending about it because most of the mainstream examples are shitty writers who wrote shitty fanfiction (which, obviously, has a much lower expectation as far as quality goes) and then went on to write shitty books.

nevermindddd it works

idk I mean I was nice to my mom? But she was struggling and raising us on her own and a genuinely cool lady.

argh I don't think I can watch this in my country and I so want to see the death glare. Maybe someone made a gif...

There are plenty of published authors who started out writing fanfiction before moving onto original fiction.

Yeah I mean this is precisely why the block function exists. It's odd to think of a doctor as in a position of power over an adult woman. I pay my doctor; he works for me.

Why not write original stories with gay characters? I'm generally against fanfiction, honestly. But that's because I write fiction and find the practice pretty violating. So writing fanfiction and then changing the sexuality of characters so they can bang is just doubly fucked. Imo, of course.

There is theory that physical arousal in women actually evolved in response to rape (which makes sense because a lubed up dick does less internal damage) and one of the ways it was tested was a study where straight women were shown a variety of sexual videos/images whatever. While men tended to only be aroused by

Yeah, it does kind of perpetuate the idea that guys can't just be really good friends.

I do tend to cringe when people ship characters outside of their stated sexuality and I cringe real hard when they write fanfiction about it and make art devoted to it and like...why

Wait, but to be clear, I didn't say rapes don't happen in taxis here or that they happen elsewhere. The poster said they felt like they can't take a taxi without carrying a gun. My response was to that.

honestly, I'm spoiled by New York taxis because they're all uniform. I'm much more wary about the unmarked ones. I don't live in the US anyway.

Sorry, you're right. It should have said:

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to demand something so specific. That's not my intention at all. But do you really disagree that she responded 'it happens in the US' to a very specific concern and then couldn't back up the claim? That's what annoyed me. At the very least we're both assholes, since the response to my 'really'

Listen, the OP was horrified that this happened to a woman in a place she referred to as 'tourist central' it would stand to reason that the location combined with the nature of the crime is what made it so shocking. You replied that it happens in the US too and have yet to come up with a recent example of a similar

Those travel advisories hardly help, though. They basically tell Americans not to go anywhere, ever unless they want to get kidnapped by terrorists.

Where's the gang rape part? You suck at this.

Er no. You made a claim, I disputed it, and you still haven't addressed it. The last few years have seen a marked drop in sexual assault in the US, including child sexual abuse. India is currently dealing with an increase. The increase is most likely due to more people coming forward (which is a good thing), but the

So then no? You're just kind of equivocating for no reason? I'm pretty sure women in India are raped 'while trying to get a college education' as well.
