Well that's the wrong way to look at it. Dirk's deal is what it is, a great deal. You then had like $18M to spend on other players. You spent it on Devin Harris and Parsons. Suddenly, it doesn't look so good. You can't just make the Parsons overpay go away because Dirk is charitable.

Also interested to see how many of those players are academy products vs. $50,000,000 toys they bought like Goetze.

GAAP applies but only after gymnastics.

The way the salary cap works, the players get a percentage of all football relevated income. Its roughly 50%.

FWIW, the only reason they constantly renovate the stadium is because they have to spend those profits SOMEWHERE.

Any Tottenham Hotspur fan could have called this would be Benny weeks ago. That dude be crazy.

If we can get Gedion Zelalem, we might have a #10 for the next 3 or 4 world cups (he'd be 21, 25, 29, and 33)

Looking at the current teams w/ cap space is a fool's errand. Any team can clear the $22M if Lebron wants to come there. The Clippers, Warriors, Bulls, any host of almost contenders.

UPDATE: There's a deadspin article on this, but Adam Silver announced him as drafted *by the NBA* as a mid-first round pick. He took a photo with the commish like all first rounders, but his hat was the league's logo not a team's. He was breaking down when it happened. Massive standing ovation. A truly great

Go Stanford, indeed!

The Euro-WC-Euro run is the only such long-term championship run in the history of world football. That, by it's very nature, means it's a long time. And if you tack on the 4 years since the last WC, it's actually 10 years of holding the belt.

"if all you can do are short, precise passes you'll get beaten the moment someone figures out how to stop those passes"

I disagree with Contra. I obliterated it as an adult.

I really enjoyed reading this... until I saw how long it is and realized I was only 1/10th in. I will finish it eventually but man can someone hook me up with a little TL;DR please?

TL;DR Jose

I would ease up on presuming that you share the "Christian" perspective, friend, because you sure as hell don't speak for me.

I had this exact thought last night as I watched my son (who is a 2-year old wrecking by day) sleeping peacefully in his crib. I literally thought "I wish Big Daddy Drew would write about moments like these... I bet he enjoys them"

You are being an idiot. The draft is three deep with generational talents. You're picking third. Ergo, you get a generational talent.

I think it's pretty easy to have another origin story that's about mankind messing up nature: You have a giant ice shelf in the antarctic break off (global warming!) and then show the remnants of a huge tunnel system/lair/etc as the ice flows into the sea.

Not their fault that ESPN apparently has only one camera for softball broadcasts.
