When I first came to the US, I had a pretty thick Indian accent. It was my Freshman year in high school. I’m sure the kids would’ve made fun of my accent either way, but the most common thing was for them to either say “thank you come again” to me or to ask me to do it. It certainly didn’t help that I spoke English

Are you trying tell me that its possible to like something AND criticize it? What witchcraft is this!?

I love the Simpsons but I still have to say that the racism surrounding Apu was always there, it’s just that nowadays we’re finally calling this type of stuff out more. You don’t get a free pass just because it’s from a time that people cared less.

Hey, speaking as someone who has been watching The Simpsons since the very beginning and who considers it an inextricable part of his personality, you should check out The Problem With Apu. It’s a well-made documentary and may make you think twice about the character, even if you love him. It’s okay to love things

Maybe if your show’s been on so long that one of your first characters is now a modern version of Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, you should just make something new.

I can’t believe this show is still on, but I can believe a show that stopped being funny 20 years ago has writers and producers this out of touch with the current cultural climate of America.

And? Traditional sports leagues aren’t filled with angels either.

Competitive Overwatch trying to prove it’s place with traditional sports a little too hard with this ratio of players with scandals to players without.

I’m less annoyed and more impressed, personally.

Even if you’re the type of white person who doesn’t skip the N-word when singing along to a rap song, why would you be the type of person who screams it gleefully at the top of your lungs while being recorded?

Why do white people want to say that word so bad? I’m black, and when I hear my friends from other cultures refer to each other as [insert racial slur of choice here] I have never thought to myself, “Oh, well they said it so I guess I’ll just go around saying it now then”.

My pathetic, desperate mind is going to take this Todd Howard anecdote as confirmation of TES:VI in the works.

Too intimidating to be Kylo Ren.

Kylo Ren, or Bucky Barnes?

I mean, the two games are different enough that which is “better” comes down more to personal taste than any sense of objective quality. No sense in sneering at either one.

I guess they are implying that they control the local media as well? And perhaps it’s meant to imply that the events of the game take place before word can really leak out? And an isolated community I guess. Not too preposterous

Same as GTA probably. Turns out the whole thing is a video game

Oh, there’s always been plenty of tribalism and ugliness among gamers; Nintendo vs. Sega, PlayStation vs. Saturn, PC vs. console, casual vs. hardcore... people being called out for liking a franchise, over what game in a series you like most, what genre one likes or even one’s preference of game in the same genre.

These people have always been there, they were just quiet until Trump came around.

Allowing them to exist unopposed also reinforces their platforms. For what they are supporting, there is no real compromise or solution, because they’ve already made the choice that a majority of the society has not.

So if they are going to exist regardless, we might as well make them do it out of our collective faces.
