Sadly the SC will soon begin dismantling all executive agency regulation. Open season on consumers!

Of course, if a dealer really thinks he can get by with a mandatory “winter prep package” he will most certainly find himself watching a certain percent of potential buyers walk out and never come back.

The large print giveth, the small print taketh away.

Three localish Kia dealers. I call up about the EV6, websites say they have in stock [insert dubious emoji]. They are all in transit and will be in soon the AI salesmen says off the script. “Please notify me when one comes in so I can test drive, make some measurements”. Can’t do that, vehicles are already sold, no

I do understand markups when the dealer can’t get product. They can’t keep the lights on selling such a low volume of vehicles, and have to downsize their operation or increase pricing until supply levels out. I’m glad that the FTC is finally getting rid of the actual sleezeball tactics. Most vehicles that are

I mean I can give you a couple dealers in my area that aren’t doing markups.

It was my use of “hidden” that may have been confusing. I only meant to imply that they were not clearly communicated during negotiations. I am from the Midwest as well, Iowa to be specific. What I was implying is that you never see the full list of charges until you are sitting down with finance. The last new car I

That’sThat's one of the slimier tactics I have seen over the years, but here in Florida is one other guy said the 899 tax fee is very common and it's just a tactic that you have to understand that everything is negotiable and your feet are the best negotiation tactic the consumer has. However I have seen very simply

If Y is a negative number, sure. In most of my car purchases, that has been the case.  I’d prefer to call it “what the dealer pays for the opportunity to have me as a customer.”

Tying rebates to whatever is perfectly fair, IMHO, as are rebate or cheap financing deals. Take whichever is the better deal, then pay it off with your own financing before the first payment is due. Most states now ban early termination fees on consumer credit. BTDT several times.

How are we gonna feel safe without the $500 " vin etching"?

What about finance rate holdback? You qualify for 1.9% but they tell you you were approved for 2.4% and they keep the 0.5%.

Mitsu for Nissan first. Kia has come a long way.

This would probably put Kia dealers out of business, LOL.

I’ve never paid a hidden fee on any car, new or used. Granted, it does depend somewhat on what part of the country you’re doing business since there are regions where shady practices are commonplace.

I dare you to show me a single dealer that does not charge some hidden fee. Hell I have negotiated deals on new cars online and then gone in person to close and had dealers try to charge for crap that was not part of the negotiation. I walked away once over $1,500 for window tint that was added AFTER I agreed to the

Way to advertise that you didn’t read the article at all. Congrats!

To be fair, marking a car up above MSRP in a time of high demand and low supply is not “slimy” as long as the customer is well informed about it and there are no hidden fees. The supply / demand curve is not a phenomenon the government should get involved in.

Ok, So these are all owned by shell companies that are owned by other shell companies, right? So who’s to say that I don’t own one of these yachts...

No one is concerned than the Finish government has seized yatchs possibly belonging to their own citizens? According to this, its basically ok to seize someones property as long they’re not “ordinary” So what, if you’re richer than ordinary then its ok to freeze your assets with no evidence? any wealth is now
