And you can usually find them lightly used for pretty solid prices. They’re bombproof so used is fine.

One other thing to seriously consider before building this out, especially if you put water on board, is axle weights. These buses are close to axle weight limits in many states with almost no passengers aboard.

Adding water and furniture could easily put you in a position where you are not compliant with spring road

I was about to flip a table based on the thumbnail until I saw the asterisk that Oreos are potentially better.

Domestic ammunition manufacturing is pretty common across NATO. Even Canada makes our own small arms ammunition. Hell Canada even makes it’s own 155mm shells.

Some of that comes down to what brands you pick and the price you pay.

Purely financially, if you’re using it less than 12 nights a year, the total cost of ownership is going to exceed what appears, at first blush, to be exceptionally high rental rates.

Could we go back to campy, somewhat light James Bond films?

You weigh them one axle at a time: https://www.gecscales.com/truck-scales/portable-wheel-scales/ I’ve done semi’s and half-tons with them.

GCWR is 15,500 on the Expy, and like 9,500 on the Odyssey IIRC.

I’d have to pull off calipers from the F-150 and Tundra I’ve got in the garage. I’m confident the front brakes are bigger on the F-150 though. For rear brakes the Tundra may have an edge.

True, the Tundra does have a 10.5" ring gear, but I’ve seen more broken Tundra rears than F-250s. Design spec matters more than size.

The Expedition’s 9k towing is for sure, and AFAIK, the Tundra’s tow rating are both SAE J2807 numbers.

Ford straight up acknowledged that when explaining why they made the 7.3L.

That may be true in your state, but far from all (or even most).

I do get out some, and in the past was trained on weighing trucks. Our local police and highway patrol vehicles even carry portable scales.

I’ve towed 12,500lbs with my 2008 Expedition. Did it work? Sure, but it certainly wasn’t ideal. I’ve put 2,000lbs plus me in the back of the expedition and that also worked, but still not great.

Exactly. That 12,000lbs max towing uses 1,200lbs of payload. Better not have two 220lb landscapers in the truck when you’re hauling that 12,000lbs if you have to hit the scales.

So an Expedition Max with Platinum package has 500lbs more payload and GCWR of 15,500 or 9000lbs towing.

An Expedition Max (also IRS) has a payload of 1727lbs in FX4 offroad trim.

I’ve never seen a serious dressage rider without a gooseneck and Laramie 3500 or King Ranch F350 or bigger.
