I honestly don't know the answer to that.

The article doesn't make clear whether the teachers knew the students, or just knew their names.

The Snopes article doesn't counter the ACLUs interpretation of the judgement. Specifically, she was denied protection of existing laws because the court rejected the argument that lactation was a medical condition caused by pregnancy. Which is asinine on it's face. And the facts they used to reach this conclusion

This was the part of their decision, which said that plaintiff can't claim that lactation is a medical condition brought on by pregnancy — and used the male body to gird that argument.

It's possible that one group happened to grade one gender better than the other, and vice versa? Yes, that's exactly what happened. Graders who knew the names of the students consistently gave lower scores to girls. For three groups, no fewer than six times each (6th through 12th grades). That is — there at least

Right, maybe more of an addition than an exception.

Exception! People are fond of using the word "male" when it's preceded by the word "black".

Because Baker doesn't believe that women can actually attain power and influence through their own work. When men achieve powerful positions it's because MERIT. When women do, it's because some really powerful dudes thought it would be a total lark to put her up as a figurehead.

But you're forgetting the underlying axiom of Baker's argument: women are incapable of achieving power and influence, ergo it must have been handed to them by deferring men.

It's really important for all of us to remember that really good people can have views we vehemently disagree with. It's just really important to hear other people and respect where they're coming from, as long as it harmful to oneself.

Live is too short for negative relationships, but it's also long enough to accept our loved ones' failings.

What do you get out of the friendship? If it's a net positive, then keep her around. If she drives you crazy OR you hold each other in contempt, let it go.

Oh wait! I have one. I went to the move premier of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. It was the middle of summer. They started with a cocktail party in a Midtown atrium and that got us all drunk and put us onto some double decker buses to the movie theater. It was the middle of summer, a million degrees out,

Not my story, but years and years ago my husband picked up D'arcy Wretzky, the Smashing Pumpkins bassist, at a record store. They went back to her place for a fuck. Afterwords, she lit up a crack pipe. My husband was a huuuuge slut at the time and said that was one of only a couple of times that he felt dirty and

I had that happen in a cab once. The guy I was with handed over a twenty or something and asked for $2 back. I stepped out, but was still in earshot when I heard him say, "Give me back $5 instead."

Marriage among first cousins has been a great historical tradition among most cultures. The only argument against it is potential genetic flaws from inbreeding, but most cousin pairs are sexually diverse enough that it isn't an issue (at least on a single generational basis). Would I marry my first cousin? Eew no.

The biblical verse wouldn't change the legal weight of religious protection, as the courts have long since decided that there is no test for sincerely held belief. It doesn't have to derive from traditional theology.

What's the argument? That his right to religion expression is protected but the baker's isn't?
