I suspect they are hoping to be offered a settlement outside of court. There’s an amount where it’s just cheaper to pay him to drop the suit, than it is to go to trial and prove his “injuries” are bogus.
I don’t trust it. Mostly because I pass a shop on a daily basis that always has at least 5 Tesla’s with front end damage. Probably the result of people having too much faith in the safety of Auto-Pilot.

I’ve only driven the GTS, I would imagine it and the base drive almost the same minus HP, and some grip. Steering feedback is better in the MDX. The drive by wire in the GTS is not as good either. It’s a very capable SUV, but I wouldn’t say it feels good to drive. The Start/Stop is clunky too, but one can solve that…
This is not the norm. I’ve had 7. In the 100's of thousands of miles between them I had 1 wheel bearing fail (new before 1000 miles), and 1 oil pressure sensor fail ($23). That’s it!
