I suppose I could have just edited my other comment, but I'd also like to add that I think there is a huge qualitative difference as well. I think there's a qualitative difference between saying Bush was not a legitimate president because of what happened with the vote in Florida and saying Obama is not a legitimate…

I guess by fringe I meant that the Obama stuff you see from people of authority - as much as there are any - in the Republican party. That is, elected officials, party big-wigs, etc. That wasn't the case with the Bush stuff. I just couldn't come up with a better term than fringe.

I think the difference is, as some have pointed out, the Bush hatred came from the left fringe. The Obama hatred is coming from the mainstream right, in this instance at a state-sponsored event.
