Oh, I see where the issue is. You’re thinking AC-130, this is a HC-130. Different missions, different capabilities, same basic airframe (ie., yeah it’s a C-130, but it’s a different C-130).

That was a AC-130. Same basic aircraft as what was flying over NYC, but major difference in capability. The one over NYC was a HC-130 Combat King SAR aircraft.

I know what a Stingray is. But the C-130 pictured is NOT an EC-130 variant (those are easily identified by the antenna on the tail section.

Because if that’s the environment you’re going to be working in, why not get to know it as intimately as possible before having to do it in a high stress situation?

I’ve only met Matt a few times, but he’s an awesome guy. One of these days I’ll make it down to PARC and see if he’ll take my daughter out on a ride along. I rocked a ShaDynasty sticker on my ‘81 Celica I got from him a couple years ago.
