or that they're Japanese
or that they're Japanese
you are aware, of course, that Subaru is a legit name if you are Japanese?
The same as everyone else... 100K with no major repairs other than scheduled maintenance. Look at some of the other responses to your statement. Only 27k and already a water pump replacement does not bode well for long term longevity...
Yeah, the engine is just that... an engine. Better than what you'd find in a Toyobaru, but that's about it. That being said, the 4-door is still a pretty good option in this class, just not a standout like the previous gen with 8.5K rpm.
I'm saying you can't equate 27k with a water pump replacement as "reliable" under 21st century standards
2006. No timing belt.
Your GTI never went nearly 200K either. I didn't have to replace anything at 27K. Who exactly is the fanboy? I don't have the car anymore by the way, I'm on a WRX at the moment, WAS looking at a Focus ST but didn't feel good about it.
Honestly, I'm watching those videos and for the life I can't figure out why the fuck the truck drivers ever thought that trying to negotiate that turn was a good idea. I'd install a giant boulder at corner.
It was exactly that gen. Mine was perfect all the time. I don't know if it's a matter of break in, shift style or if the earliest ones had issues (though mine WAS a 2006). If anything the most annoying thing was popping from 2nd back to 1st when the car is cold (10 below freezing). But, I also used a different fluid…
Do you actually need your car to go somewhere? If not, then I can see why German cars are taking over the continent.
So your option is either the WRX (wait, that's not a hatch), or the Mazdaspe... wait...
I mentioned this in my posts and I second yours. I had nearly 200K miles on mine when I sold it, and the only things I had to change were the inner tie rods and the clutch. I never had the notchy shifter, but the stock Honda fluid sucked so I changed that out.
To be fair, the RX-7 wasn't really any more reliable than the RX-8, and the RX-8 has a reputation for eating engines.
25k isn't exactly high mileage. When people talk about reliability, they mean 100K miles +

Holy fuck, your water pump went out at 27K?
You will need an REI membership to use the promo code, but at $20 for a lifetime, that's not a deal killer. You can put the savings towards your trip to the Nürburgring (just don't forget the camera when you go).
And you intend to fly several hundred miles like this?
I said this once before but Tesla fanatics are the new Prius fanatics, except possibly even crazier since they also invest in Tesla stock.
And naturally, Musk used the fireside chat to extol the virtues of the S and take a few digs at gas-powered cars. According to GigaOm, Musk said that every type of transportation, with the exception of space travel, will be electric in the future, and called the design of internal combustions vehicles everything from…
