I was at a talk of Soledad O’Brien’s where she related how she came up with the name for her media venture, Starfish Media Group. Someone told her that a story she was working on was her “starfish story”. They explained this to her with a parable along the lines of, “After a storm, a local was going along the beach

That’s a really interesting point. I wonder if I’ve let myself just slowly recede completely from the scene because I feel, essentially: I turned my life inside out for this cause, and they still said I didn’t care. I might as well just not actually care.

The polyester bullshit is universal to affordable fashion, I think. It is incredibly rare for me to find a dress that fits well, is a style I like, is under $100, and is made from a natural fiber. And I’m a completely standard size 8. Whoever invented summer dresses made from polyester and acetate that are dry clean

whatever, I don’t think you can call a garment “queen-sized” unless it has cartridge pleats and a collar or ruff with a diameter of at least a foot.

So... a lot of this looks an awful lot like what women with low budgets still have to choose from. Basically Wal-Mart’s women’s section right there.

This essay is amazing!

I think this is a serious problem with social justice as a whole right now. It’s become really self-destructive for the people engaging in it, and destructive for people outside of it when we see them as not behaving in ways/holding opinions we think they should for their assumed “privilege” level. I mean, it

“Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity.”

Well, shit. This was fucking fabulous.

Trump fan: It’s clearly illogical to do this “guilt by association thing because we can play it all day long.

To be fair, they did cover it on the TV Coverage, interviewing the head of the KC and the head judge. They were NOT happy, and implied that the Judge will not be in that position any longer. They are also looking to prevent bad breeding practises.

Good grief, that’s horrible. It looks as though the only reason she’s sound in the show ring is that she’s still young enough to shrug off any pain and awkwardness. Her gait is hideous.

good heavens. i can often see, from an “adorable” viewpoint, why certain bred-in traits are desirable (even if i feel terrible for thinking such a thing), but what is going on here? why would this be desirable!?

Oh wow. I’ve noticed GSDs with sloped backs before but I had no idea that was a bred trait for show. Does it negatively affect their health in any way? It looks as though they’d be walking oddly, and that one in your link looks so deformed.

Show line German Shepherds are bred to have a sloped back, yes. People always assume my 60 pound working line GSD is some kind of mixed breed because they are used to seeing the show lines.

Justin: Dude, that Republican field, man!

I think this is the most gorgeous Michelle has ever looked at a formal event. Which is really saying something since she always looks amazing.

Best looking first lady ever, right?

no, please let them have a normal life from now on ... and live safely & happily.
