Ah, maybe . A ‘66 six with a four speed may have something that if memory serves correctly is a ‘Dagenham’ transmission, sourced from the British arm of Ford and just as quickly sent back home...

GM X-frame with an inline six. Rust was acceptable, that design’s crashworthiness never was and the way the I6 mounts in the rails makes it even worse for an offset.

It wasn’t a rustbucket, but it also wasn’t representative of anything but other GM X-frame cars of the era.

Did this come up again? Can’t believe how many people failed basic physics.

Yes, equal cars, equal speed, equal to an immovable object. With differences, speed is squared and then the higher of the two “wins”.

Heh, well, the only major issue with your ride is a lack of equipment to keep you in it and off it... three point belts, collapsing column (might actually be present) and ‘safety wheel’ with hub padding, knee guarding, dash and door sill padding, headrests, etc.

You won’t get crushed, but EMTs may need a spatula.

What is this “Cabin filter” you speak of?

The ONLY way to control wipers with a touch screen is to have the stalk activate them, and that signal also opens a control with window primacy (it’s always on top) , and something like just a vertical speed selection bar. It also MUST MUST MUST be on the edge of the display so there’s a tactile guide.

Boaters would have been much safer at that distance if they’d worn a mask, and.... (sees trump flags)

.... nevermind, then.

Look a little deeper. There are design DETAILS in place that are the same between the ShinMaywa and this aircraft, that don’t necessarily need to be the way they are.

Of *course* it’s derivative. Don’t know why I expected differently.

At a glance it looks like they’ve borrowed the hull and vert/horz stabilizer design and come up with a new wing and modified main gear housings.

The Catalina has outrigger floats... they’re retractable, like the landing gear.

It sounds like it’s a big high-bypass turbofan....

I’ll buy it if it’s 3000lb, 150 horsepower... anything, and manual.
Which is basically my Sonoma with roughly half again as much power as it has on a hot day.

This. Just make sure to store it in a shady part of the car.

You have a massive cost amortization problem up front to deal with first. It’s not “all” dollar per mile.

I’d have the first car loan I’ve had since 2008, pretty much immediately.
Homeowner, DIY’er. I haul crap, and commute alone. When I have a passenger she’s the only one. A tiny truck suits my needs fantastically well, as my ‘03 Sonoma’s 300,000 miles testify.

But it HAS 300K on the clock, and there’s absolutely shit-all

Not sure about buying something from Ass Enon TV....

Not for a “common” vehicle, they have a history of limiting engine torque to protect transmissions. Boutique, medium duty, commercial? You should know what you’re doing, here, have all the torques.

Because the lower gearing and higher torque, probably. I don’t think Ford would put out a driveline combo where you could reliably/repeatedly select the lowest gear selections, floor it, and twist all the axles apart.

Hey, it means you stand a better chance of crashing into the ‘fluffy’ part of the tree....

It’s survivor bias.
Nobody’s going to come online and tell you they died in a car accident in the 70's.
