The whole point is that you could carjack with only one person, simply by throwing a large box in the road. The car doesn’t have the logic that a human does to determine that it can be pushed out of the way.

You had me till the end...then you lost me.
Many instances like this where criminals could take advantage of an autonomous car is why they will ALWAYS need a manual override.
I can see where a thoroughly programmed autonomous car could do 99% of the driving, but never quite 100%...at least not until they are able to think like a human.
I was under the impression that it would be cheaper. That was part of the SS’s problem, is despite having 400hp it was just too expensive.
I’m sure that a few people will abuse the automated cars, but I don’t think it will be two often, especially since for the foreseeable future a human will be able to override (presumably quickly) and stop the abuse.
And the abuse of automated systems is why manual control can never fully go away. It would be too easy…
No it was perfectly flat, but it did take a long time.
Keep in mind the Versa is a CVT meaning it can hold peak power for as long as you floor it. That being said 100 was probably not very far from it’s actual top speed.
This appears to be a rather expensive car to ‘learn’ to drive manual on.
It’s not myopic at all. They charge a premium because it’s a car that gets driven harder and will wear out faster. The only reason to rent a fun car is to have fun in it. You don’t go to a fancy restaurant and not eat because the food is too artfully prepared.
If you rent a Camaro, use it like one.
No I use it more because they are charging me extra on the expectation that I will. And frankly while renting it the car is mine, as much as one would consider any lease or apartment theirs. And just like in those cases you also pay for any damages you do.
Keep in mind I beat the crap out of my daily driver on…
You mean take it to somewhere else that charges basically exactly the same rates?
The entire point of spending all that extra money on a sports car is to drive it like a fucking sports car.
It did it on a flat road, but it did take a while. I was driving down 75 to Miami and a Porsche 911 followed by an R8 blitzed by me at 130+, so that combined with the lack of other traffic I figured it was a good opportunity to put the hammer down.
See, I like Camaro’s because they can do what you just did there to BMW fanboi’s...except in real life.
Let’s keep in mind two things. You’re average rental car isn’t (often) abused like this, as most people care more about saving fuel than testing a random cars limits.
The sports cars, like the Mustang and this Camaro however do often get abused. But the rental agencies also charge well over double the price of other…
I took a rental Versa over 100 once.
I’m excited for this, and if it drives good I might even consider buying one (likely-used) as my next daily driver down the road.
I do lament the lack of manual transmission option though. Outside of this community I’m probably in the extreme minority but I do really love the idea of a big sporty manual sedan. It’s…
Not really a bang for the buck car anymore. The Camaro ZL1 is better to drive, and faster than the GT-R for significantly less money. I’d also put the Corvette, GT350R, and Viper in the same category.
And if you really want a track machine the ZL1 1LE, and Viper ACR are faster than the NISMO GT-R.
Audi does not have good performance per dollar at all. Maybe if you include that they are decently luxurious they aren’t necessarily a bad buy, but as a performance benchmark no Audi comes close.
Meh, I really don’t agree. I just think the GT-R was a good benchmark for the GT R. Both in namesake, and price similarity.
Frankly the real benchmark these days is the Camaro. In basically every trim there is nothing that can touch it for the same money (except maybe a Corvette?).
The reason the styling is aging well is because they don’t sell very well and you hardly see them on the road. They don’t sell well because they are dated, slow (in their price range) and Nissan won’t invest any money in them. Nissan won’t invest any money in them because they don’t sell very well...
