BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I TOO HAVE IT! FEAR MY BODY! FEAR MY ABILITY TO PLAY IT!
I don't think it really matters how many people knew of a lot of these games. A lot of these games were released when news wasn't so rapidly shared, and games weren't as mainstream in some of these instances. But it doesn't make them any less iconic.
Well I don't call myself an illustrator, but I can surely still recognize bad artwork. Similar to how you are able to identify a bad film, although you are not a filmmaker.
Also, if anyone is interested in really getting into Game Development, I wrote this handy dandy guide on how to get started in QA.

I was really expecting this to come from Bobsplosion.
I agree, I just moved into a denser and more city like environment and I hate it, I absolutely hate it. I am an excellent driver but the people around here... They drive like madmen, emergency lanes used as actually super passing lanes to pass the passing lane, and shit falls off of trucks and trailers all the damned…
Have you played Forza Horizon? It was the modern sequel to NFS: Underground 2 that I always wanted.
You are not the only one...I am technically homeless at the moment working on a top down shooter in udk at night while job searching during the day..My computer, my monitor, my clothes and old beat up truck are all I have to my name...it is definitely hard out here for a pimp..jks@pimp..and I went to college and every…
As a UI designer myself, the VR headset offers a few new ways to look at various roles of artist. As with any emerging technology, the design which best mirrors what the majority of people are used to will win out in the beginning, and from that point, we can truly break down some of the inefficiencies in the workflow…
I'm gonna hug you now. *hug*
Looks like they had some helpful info on there, I'll see if it works. Thanks.
But there have been games that did a decent job at being atmospheric and pretty good with the action- Bioshock series, Deadspace, etc. No, not all the games were perfect, but they did a good job at creating something more than the "same ol" shooter.
ALIENS the movie is very clear on this. Yes the M-51A Pulse Rifle is a state of the art fuck-shit-up machine and it will destroy anything you point it at if it has the rounds in it's magazine to do so. HOWEVER, holding it does not make you invulnerable. Just ask the two squads of Colonial Marines that went in there…
Did you even watch ALIENS? Guns can help, you can kill them, but they sure as hell can kill you too. And they're very, very good at it.
The 80's gone super ffuturistic theme of Aliens always really settled great with me, it's been a shame for the most part the games sucked. Some of the core concepts like evolution mode were amazing ideas just without players, proper implementation or any form of balance. The AvP series had some great multiplayer…
AVP 1/2 scared me pretty good because even though I had a gun I never felt truly safe and that is tension I like.
The tension in Amnesia is not that scary for me, the only thing that made me tense were the matches because I needed them to progress.
The monsters though didn't feel tense because I could do nothing to…
Is there any way we can make this mandatory reading for game devs?
Because it should be.
I totally agree. I rarely even bother with shooters anymore because the wow factor is just gone.
I'd put it down to being a dedicated gamer for over 30 years. Maybe I was jaded or just losing interest in the genre or something.
But I…
Loved the original Alien vs Predator games on the PC, loved playing as the marines, because you never knew when something was going to jump out at you. And of course you had the little motion detector and you knew a swarm was coming but the anticipation of it coming i thought always scare inducing.
