Holy **** - someone else who's not a fan of Red Dead Redemption!? I thought I was the only one! I find a lot of open world games are at odds with good storytelling though, so I wasn't surprised by what I saw in RDR. Once games - or at least, big budget mainstream games from megapublishers - stop taking their

Been reading Kotaku for a long time now, but don't comment very often, so nobody would know me haha. But I just read about half the thread and just wanted to give Doc props for how well the amount of vitriol was handled. Bravo.

I pretty much agree with all the points you've made. I suppose I don't like 'pure' RPGs in the style of AP then. If the main character is a blank slate to be defined by the protagonist (ala Dragon Age: Origins, which I'd argue is the best 'actual roleplaying' RPG this generation) then at least their friends, allies

WTF, no Serious Sam 2? All those in the 360 bundle, plus Sam 2, plus a few more of the 2d spinoffs were less than 5 bucks on Steam. Console gaming sure is chinsy AND expensive!

Only one man's opinion. I think it's a hilarious successor; exactly what the series needed to keep up with the times.

It wasn't just the free roam that was the problem, it was the underwritten lead character and terribly meandering plot and offensively stupid ending that let down what could have been a great western.

A fellow oldie! *high five*
Remember the days when your comment had to be approved!?
I never did get a star next to my name :(

Since this is only the alpha... Kinda keen to see the rest. All he would need is texture artists and other assets. As a gamer to changes everything I can to low so that I don't get distracted and just game. I approve of this game! More games like this. All it needs now is MORE GUNS!

I could see a

Nonetheless, I'm shocked and appalled that this doesn't have more funding. It looks extremely well-made, especially for a primarily one-man team. I'm backing it now.

And, if you participate and behave yourself in the comments for a while, you get authorship! :D

I'm going to use this as an opportunity to apologize for anytime I've been curt or flippant in response to one of your posts. I'm a super super nice person in real life, I promise. But I'm also kinda sorta old and so I'm bad at the internet and I've - as you put it - "made mistakes in my delivery."
But seriously -

The cross-posting thing is harsh. I made the mistake of saying that I respected someone's right to an opinion but disagreed with it and got harassed for days. It was my mistake to mention that maybe instead of being upset about the game industry that maybe the poster could try coding their own game and showing

You just earned yourself a follow, bud. I feel like your opinion closely matches mine.

I miss disemvoweling!

Well said. Funny enough, you picked what could possibly be the most angry character in videogames history to put in the picture for this article XD

One person's "brutal" is another person's "harmless joke" or "valid point". My biggest concern is that cracking down on comments people think are bad will result in jokes and fun posts being suppressed on the site. There's a lot of goofy people that come here and post in jest. Comments that outright insult or

ditch the burner accounts. bring back the star system you had before someone decided to f it all up.

That's... really peculiar. I'll give it a shot!

First thing that came to mind...and I can't apologize enough for this...
