I live in Connecticut and it's pictures like this and moments like this make it okay to live here on days like today.
It's terrible and cold and dangerous but it's beautiful.

Be Batman.

BRILLIANT!

"It's great that, at 50, life can still grab you by the throat and shake you up. And it's even better when you've learned to cope with whatever's thrown at you. So long as it isn't a bedside lamp."

White people look the same.

I had a strong feeling this was fake all a long. My mom died of GBM... let me tell you, there were no cute tweets toward the end complete with hashtag. I last saw her conscious in late February, she had no speech and hardly and concept of who was in a room with her. By the time she died in March, she was in hospice

Agreed. I still think this is the best of the four and Mindy look glamariffic. That black and white pic and the cropping are very old Hollywood. Perfection

I am also a woman of color and I agree with you wholeheartedly. I found Mindy's cover to be my favorite, precisely because it was in black an white. Her hair and facial characteristics really pop, she looks arresting and more vivid.

You know, I often wondered what it was about that cover that was so breathtaking, and you put it into words!

I agree. I thought that this photo was the loveliest of all the covers, actually, so I couldn't get too worked up about it.

Agree. She looks like a fucking sex goddess who is about to own you. Let's just celebrate that.

YES. As someone who always despaired of the fact that there were never going to be heroines in old-timey movies and period pieces who looked like me (unless it was about slavery or something), I love the idea of getting all Ingrid Bergman on a magazine cover. I'd feel sexy as fuck, and I guess MK does too. You go!

Well put.
I'm drawn to the b&w, but I have to admit there's a part of me that wishes I could see the photo in color, just because I think Mindy Kaling has some of the most beautiful skin tone ever.

I *love* black and white photography, and I've always lamented that I look like complete crap in B/W. I am unsurprisingly a very pale white lady with light hair and eyebrows. Lame-o.

I agree with all of this.

And I may be naive for thinking this is an absolutely beautiful picture of her. She is beautiful anyways, but this photo is breathtaking.

Perhaps I'm being naive, but I really thought the close up black and white shot took Mindy from her commonly perceived "cuteness" (ugh I hate that term for not-runway-model women) and catapulted her into smoking hotness. WHERE SHE BELONGS.

*all the hugs*
