I watched my great grandmother slowly die from emphysema when I was four and that was more than enough to keep me from ever trying smoking. She had to carry her little oxygen tank everywhere. It was horrible. It was also scary being at her house because she would smoke while using her oxygen tank.
As a person who'd be put out of business forever by such a policy, I'd love to see us get rid of added sugar too, but it's not going to happen. :(
In my high school, during a presentation about not smoking, we were told to do jumping jacks and then given a straw to breathe through afterward, to simulate having COPD. It was very effective.
Yes, my mom has COPD. She quit smoking in her early thirties. Her sister never quit and died of lung cancer in her fifties. Scary stuff.
