I have had both. Yes, tonic water was, in fact, worse... but seltzer wasn’t much better.

I am not certain that bitter can be an acquired taste for me. It is easily, by far, the strongest thing I can taste... so much so that I can easily taste certain ingredients in almost any mixture (like nutmeg, coffee, alcohol, etc).

People say that but I am screwed badly enough that even distilled water is somewhat bitter. It isn’t strong but it is enough that I would cover it with something else to hide it.

Oddly, never had beer. I haven’t met anyone who said it actually tasted good, so I am not really interested in finding out if I am different. Alcohol just gives me a headache and makes me sleepy anyway, which really isn’t all that “fun” for me.
