But I thought in America you had a right to bare arms...

I’ll show myself out...

STOP! You can’t write the rules down! They must be vague, arbitrary, and specific to every different situation, location, and denomination so that when a girl or woman inevitably puts a foot wrong, the people in charge can say “It’s not our fault you didn’t know your outfit would outrage the old folks/distract the

I thought that dress was an odd choice because it seemed more cocktail than meteorologist, but not because her scandalous shoulders were showing.

America needs to have a referendum about when women must show skin and when they cannot, since there doesn’t seem to be choice for them. My understanding so far is:

WTF this is ridiculous. As someone else said, what man has ever been asked to change because they were wearing something inappropriate at work.

My personal trainer did that actually - a few times even to see which combination of diet and exercise worked best. I suspect that because he never stayed fat for very long and was physically active all his life it wouldn’t be quite as drastic in his situation as the Biggest Losers competitors.

Just for context, this is the process people on the Biggest Loser go through. They consume far fewer calories than are recommended for a human to subsist on and exercise to the point of exhaustion — they basically (yes, voluntarily) spend 5 months being coached into having a severe eating disorder. They lose weight at

The weight loss was too fast and their diet was probably too extreme as well (I assume they had to lose hundreds of pounds in just a couple of months because it’s being taped on a tight schedule, which is insane.) The best way to lose weight is the old-fashioned way, aerobic exercise three to four times a week

There’s new show where fitness professional gain weight and then take it off, so that they can “come from a place of understanding”. I’d be very curious to see if their metabolism resets.

Here’s my hot take: I don’t care. My niece has already told me that she won’t watch it because the Ancient One has been whitewashed and to me that is exactly equivalent to someone saying they won’t watch Bond if it’s Idris Elba. I just don’t get it, sometimes. Doctor Strange was the 7-year-old-me’s favourite, so

Marvel casts a Asian actor to play a ancient martial arts master... They get slammed for stereotyping.

What would a non-stereotypical mystical Asian character look like?

What would a non-stereotypical mystical Asian character look like? That second quote is right on the money. SOMEONE will be pissed off no matter what you do. I don’t know that whitewashing is the answer, but with an Asian portraying the Ancient One, there was literally no way that someone wouldn’t give them crap. I

Actually, there was a response from someone Marvel that summed it up even better: They can’t cast the Ancient One as a Tibetan character because China doesn’t recognize Tibet, and they can’t cast the Ancient One as a Chinese character because the Ancient One is Tibetan, so they just decided to avoid that whole

Apparently, one of the Doctor Strange screenwriters gave a different reason for why they changed the Ancient One: they didn’t want to piss off Chinese audiences. Because the Ancient One is supposed to be Tibetan and China doesn’t recognize the existence of Tibet.

As someone who participated in the outcry against the whitewashing of GitS, I can honestly say that Tilda Swinton’s casting didn’t bother me much at all. This is mostly just a personal thing, because I always get the impression that when Tilda Swinton plays a magical character, she’s playing a non-human, androgynous

no whats insulting is everyone not realizing that they were damned if they do, damned if they dont. Casting an asian as the ancient one would just have been re-enforcing existing stereotypes

Seperate but related point to this article, producing lower quality work when you are fed up also builds bad habits. This happened to me in my last job. When I started my current job, I had to break those habits, which as we all know can be tough.

I like how instead of Lucifer hiding his big secret, they’ve gone the opposite and he’s 100% open about it, and instead of being left out of the loop like in other shows, Detective whatsherface just doesn’t believe him. Mostly.

I actually really enjoy it thanks to the mythology.
