When you move it’s a great idea. The increase in interior volume is staggering. That SOP for when I need to move something extra bulky in my Fiesta hatch if I don’t want to grab a trailer.

It’s not designed to be a primary car, that’s been obvious and stated from the start.
How many days this year have you carried more than one person in your car?
If you roll it the doors could possibly fly open.
For the same money you’d get a much better Miata. The Z3 is not that great of a sports car. It’s good, but not worth the effort that goes into a cheap one.
Now if only Ford could figure out fold flat seats and get the hatch opening and hat shelf right. That part is down right hilariously bad.
I was hoping it would sound like something/anything.
It was a new one with MFG plates.
I also am in Detroit quite a bit for work. A grey car with plastic wheel covers and tints is a Zero attention car. I literally don’t exist which is what I’m looking for. The ST is a bit too much of an attention getter from both LEO and other people on the street
That engine in a normal Fiesta body with 15" steel wheels…
What do you DD?
I saw one of these on Woodward last night in sliver. Eh, I was not impressed. He got on it, it did not sound like much.
The “Detroit” wheel option should have been 15 inch wheels on 70 aspect ratio tires.
Stop rolling 22's. Rolling on 15's you won’t have that issue.
I’m a materials engineer with 10 years experience, anything under 60k is easily in the budget.
The 1 liter is a true enthusiasts car, it’s not super quick, it’s a momentum car. The engine is beautiful, the chassis dynamics are classic VW Mk2 and the ST suspension is $300 if you want something a bit firmer.
I paid just…
I emailed Ford in ~2010 and told them if they brought a downsized turbo motor to the US I’d buy one. I actually bought two.
I picked the 1.0 over the ST because the 1.0 is a true marvel of technology, multiple papers have been written on the advancements employed in that engine. It’s plenty quick, it’s manual only and…
So you only drive the newest generation S class because of that?
Canada is like west Europe, but I’ve noticed the change in mindset when I’m across the boarder. America is a confusing place.
I looked at the Mazda 2 before buying my Fiesta hatch but that 1 liter was too sweet to pass up on. Saving that 300 lbs sure would be nice though.
I tow 1,000 lbs with the Fiesta every other weekend and it does fantastic. Other than slightly wider seat bases (I sit wide) I don’t know if I could ask for anything else.
You’re taking a simplified view of this. It’s not two monolithic steel blocks smashing together. It’s all about dumping that energy over time.
Small DOES NOT equal cheap, America has never learned this lesson over the past 40 years. I don’t think they’ll ever learn.
Small cars can be, and are quite safe. Bigger = Better does not hold nearly as much weight as it did 10 or 20 years ago.
