I use something similar when fly fishing from a float tube. I hate wearing a regular vest because it restricts your movement. Although it would act as insulation in cold water these just hug your neck and keep you from going under until help arrives.

I started looking at the pics for a log pile and laughed when I figured out what you were talking about. That's in the foreground! But it did look like a wood pile all over the floor. What we poor people call kindling the rich call decoration.

Just go in the house! Just kidding. The glass or windows that are out now are super energy efficient and most have some sort of UV blocking protection. My guess is if you can afford that piece of land with that home the cost of those windows isn't a big concern.
