At least twice a year, I think about plunking down money for Dragon for Mac, but for at least every 2 "it's great!" stories, I hear at least 1 "it's useless" story.
Is it accurate? Short learning curve? Long learning curve? Anyone have any personal anecdotes or recommendations?

this happened to me except in reverse! I ordered a 20 ft truck and got a 10'. fortunately my move was only 20 miles away (not like, cross country) so my multiple trips were not TOO terrible a burden, but i was pissed.

Last time I rented with Uhaul, they didn't have the size I reserved and rented me the next size up for the same price and threw in the hand cart for free. I've had better deals from independent owners over the main offices.

Agreed. U-Hauls all seen to be independently ran by post-prison parolees trained to attempt to extract money from you using any means necessary which includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Yep. Ann Arbor, end of summer 2001. Had to wait SIX DAYS. Never using U-Haul again.

Excellent point. I got screwed once on Memorial Day weekend because I didn't know this little tidbit. AFAIK, U-Haul is the only rental company that operates this way, and because of that I'll never rent from them again.

Not to mention that U-Haul only seems to stock trucks from 2-3 decades ago that are held together with spit and duct tape. Renting from Penske you always get a truck less than 3 years old when making cross country trips.

I've had this exact thing happen. Luckily, Budget was across the highway from them.

I don't think you've experienced what I'm talking about, then. Even so, I quit using U-Haul several years ago because of this practice. I've been told of it happening again by friends who were trying to move at the end of July and couldn't get their truck. U-Haul actually doesn't promise trucks when you ask for

Isn't there something illegal about that?

Ditto on the U-Haul thing going back to 2001. Left me high and dry on moving day with no truck. Worst customer service I've ever experienced of any business. Not surprised to hear nothing has changed... never again.

No, it's not a guarantee at all or even a reservation, really. It's $50 for the privilege of listing your name. If you arrive and there is no truck for you, you have no options but to upgrade or wait.. and wait... Your $50 isn't refunded, either. It actually happens a lot.

Keep in mind, U-Haul does NOT guarantee reservations. It is very likely that you may show up on a busy weekend only to be told that the truck is not there for you, and they will fault the the previous user. Your reservation fee is gone, and you have to wait even 2 days. Go with a company that will guarantee the

I have zero issues with pet gifts. Zero.

Karl had a very cute kitty. Choupette.

I was implying he wanted to bone his brothers, but now I'm thinking it's a Romney.

I don't know. I was an office manager once. It was a good job, but I'm not sure $70,000 covers the headache of dealing with that sort. Once you factor in therapy it comes out to much less.
