The story reportedly had the Enterprise, the Vulcans, and another set of aliens racing to get their hands on a time travel device, with the Vulcans wanting to undo the destruction of their planet.

Total agreement here. And can the good Star Trek movie be one that looks ahead, not behind? I'm really tired of Trek wallowing in its own history; time for it to be about the future again.

If this rumor about Orci's proposed storyline is true, it's more evidence that he just doesn't understand Star Trek at all. I say "Good riddance."
