Because it's like a combo, you keep running into the same pokemon over and over and over and over and over, like a chain link. The longer the chain, the better chance of finding a shiny.

Are you by chance trading that shiny honedge? What do you want for it? Is it jolly by chance?

I've always just used Red from day 1 on my first game back in the 90s. Stale for some people, but Red is my absolute favorite trainer so you're a silent protagonist so... it fits.

Yeah Max Repels have been a rip off for ages. I laugh at anyone that uses them.
