I felt like this the MOMENT I was done with the tutorial in the Witcher 3. They told me I could go anywhere, and I just turned it off because I knew I would always be anxious about missing out on something, or playing content out of order.

Don’t bother. I got greyed arguing this point with them. They don’t understand the techniques involved with good pixel art principle, and see poor technique as a “style.”

I was weaned off by FF12 time, but they’ve made a few good games since, and I find myself unweaned. I have hopes, despite my fears.

Hmmm... Okay. I read the article, and read the kickstarter page and you’re right. The headline says he’s teaching pixel art, but if he isn’t then it really wouldnt matter if he was mediocre.

I think its best defense is that pixel art is a TON of work to do well, and that he is doing a genre that requires a lot of art. Nonetheless, the art lacks in fundamentals in places, and it looks unfinished.

Fair enough. There are plenty of shitty profs that students have no problem saying “they shouldn’t teach” about. Nobody thinks that’s unfair or haughty because they are payong money to learn and they want to learn well.

Yes, and? He's a student trying to teach, and he isn't ready to teach. Maybe when he finishes his degree he should come back to this.
