Despite the amazing automobiles we have now, I truly think that the mid 80s to probably the late 90s was the golden era of automobiles. Formula 1, Group B, Paris to Dakar, ISMA, and the road cars you could get were so, so good.

It looks like you lost it the same way I did when I balled my Legacy GT into a wall. Dipped the outside wheel off just a bit right at the outside of the turn. I didn’t roll, but I hit the wall pretty hard. Glad you’re alright.

Not defending that absurd price, but the 7m’s HG issues can be addressed with an aftermarket metal head gasket and some ARP hardware.

I just drove my MK3 from Minneapolis to Denver yesterday, the car will just eat miles. You’re absolutely right that it’s a grand touring car. They can be made to handle pretty well (I have Fortune Auto coilovers on mine and am pleased with the ride), but you can’t get away from the weight without serious work.

Way too much. I got an ‘87 for 4k out the door, at a dealership even. Perfect underside, minor body imperfections, minor issues with the interior but overall about 80%. For a third of this asking price.

Cometic metal head gasket and ARP hardware fixes that permanently, FWIW.

That’s an honestly good looking car. That front 1/4 view is really nice.

Hamilton is such a fucking insufferable bastard.

100% agreed. fuck Miatas and fuck the mega-fanboy-ism around it.

Not really a fan. I’m liking the Toyota renders a lot more. Part of it is that I just don’t trust German cars, so there’s an inherent bias, but the aesthetic of this one just doesn’t do it for me.

Can I please get ungrayed? I’ve been asking for a year.

You’re a fucking idiot.

You must have forgotten that anywhere in California is better than everywhere else no matter what. /s

bad. ass.

You’re a good guy, David.

This is an NA 4 pot though.

This is my favorite series on Jalopnik right now. Thanks.

Welcome to Newmerica, please check your freedoms at the door.

I’d never heard of this, thank you for the article. What a fantastic car. The sounds it made must have been... overwhelming.

You must not have loved the Audi that much.... cuz that is a B6.
