I've watched it a couple of times. What was so bad? I thought the plot twist of the fail safe actually just being an old nuclear bunker was quite good. Far better than anything T4 threw at you.

I thought Terminator 3 was okay. At the very least I recall the action being fun... that scene with the crane truck was awesome.

Try sitting down with a window in front of you and observe the massive degree to which your visual field changes. The brain is excellent and building models of your surrounding space.

Your brain has a gigantic visual perception area which has evolved over millions of years to understand 3D space. If you move around a room and the window stays bizarrely still instead of displaying parallax, your brain will see it as a flat surface. This is the reason why we aren't continually tricked into thinking

So just humans who missed out on the last 500 million years of evolution and are unable to distinguish between a 3D space and a flat picture on a wall...

I don't think it's true that Leibniz died in obscurity. He was a giant intellectual of his time, who accomplished much else in mathematics, science, and technology (and I doubt the Europeans relinquished his discovery of calculus just because Newton's allies said so), plus he was one of the three great continental

The Greeks invented the 'method of exhaustion'. Archimedes used it to calculate the volume of a sphere. It was very unwieldy though, and nobody made much progress with it, except in very simple cases such as these. An important thing to bear in mind is that the Greeks equated mathematics and geometry. They did not

Space Age is over because we're not spending loads of money so that humans can explore or settle at new places in space.

I guess a vague analogy would be that ants are like a GPS device whereas humans are more like a PC.

Dawkins engaged in reasoned philosophical argument in "The God Delusion", most of which was refuting other arguments. Characterising his conduct as "here's the truth and if you don't like it, fuck off" is completely false.

Why is it relevant that she is a "lady"? If this was a bloke, you wouldn't write an article about a "man scientist", it'd be ridiculous.

I wonder how we'd asses the intelligence of a human unexposed to culture.

I always thought this study was suspect.

Gonna go out on a limb and suggest she genuinely could play a seductive anything. Alien, man, Frisbee - you name it, I'm seduced.

Earth's history gets erased in the future?

It always struck me as being like some kind of S.O.S. tone, broadcast over the radio.

...Earth has had water for billions of years. Make sense please.

Uh... because the song isn't about global warming. It's about a general fear of climate disaster. "The ice age is coming" is not a lyric about the globe getting hotter.

Brave was pretty bad. Just judging it by the extent to which it entertained me, which was... not much at all.
