@nbergseng: I bet is was due to cost. Durable touch screens have been around for a long time, but I bet that the hard CRT surface, v.s. a flexible LCD system was chosen over perceived long term ware.

@Boognish: I bet the newer hiking version is more impervious, but the only thing that can prevent puncture vine from enter a foot is a thick soul, something that these shoes lack.

On a flight to London I thought I'd wear them. I got some jeers from the TSA guys state side, but worth it for the comfort.

@AlfLup: They did, and they are around. Oddly Tom Clancy and John Woo are mysteriously absent and are likely to be called "persons of interest".

I can see this now, as a "gift" from my employer, made with sub-par materials covered with some executive platitude and a corporate emblem.

Eschenbach makes great lenses, but beyond that their company reps are top notch. I work with a lot people with limited vision and I a have seen them loan out several magnifiers, speciality monoculars, etc. so a person can try them out. I have heard them talk somebody into a more reasonable purchase that fit that

@joule79: Only plaid it on a Sega, with a controller. Wasn't as bad as Myst, Prince of Persia, or some early platformers.
