@diverguy: If the comment system allowed for one to set a monospaced / non-proportional font like the Courier family, your art likely would have worked. ASCII was developed in a time when proportional fonts, at least on computers and typewriters, did not exist.

I heard the author ( and one of the screenwriters) Peter Benchley talk about the story, the movie and what the unintended consequences of his work lead to.

@CommodoreRake: It's a tight script. A good story caries it all the way from front to back. And best part, the effects are used sparingly.

The Sennheiser MX85s seem to use a similar pressures to keep the "buds" in place. The UrbanEars seem to have a better mechanism for fitting though.

@FritzLaurel: I have to agree. While a novelty, it doesn't make sense. If it can be exported to QT then it can be edited by iMovie. So, my guess is that either we have only part of the story, or there is a guaranteed path for upgrade in the version of iOS to follow this one.
