I've seen something like this before, but instead of little LEDs or whatever this uses this was a super spinning mirror. Not sure how it worked, but it game off a more realistic 3D effect as it effectively looked like it was just floating there.

I like how when Kratos picks up Midas (after the customary beating, of course) there is a golden handprint left on the floor. It's the little touches like this that impress me the most.
