I love that message about being kind to one another. Just plain love it.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Totally disagree. This is the golden age of TV attention span. Back in the days of Baretta and Starsky and Hutch, there’s no way audiences were willing to stick around unless everything was resolved in one episode. When Hill Street Blues came along, we only stuck around for the long burns because every episode had two

Right on!  I’ve preordered both of those!  It’s so great that he seems to be in control of his catalogue again.  I wish he was a household name!

Totally agree that it’s some of his best work. I find him often making attempts at human-scale emotions that don’t quite work for me, and that’s the only reason I’m resisting this “Sandman of Marvel” tagline. It won’t be that — which is fine, but it’s a little bizarre to describe it as that.

I enjoy the scope and ambition of what Hickman does, but I think he struggles at mixing that with human-scale emotions. I just plain think that there’s no way he will ever be able to do “Sandman for the Marvel universe.”

I’ve been trying to be more appreciative lately online, mostly by picking cool things that people say and telling them how much I like them.  You’re up.  From “feedback loop of consumerism and automation” to the Banks reference, I loved every single thing about your comment.  Just starring it wasn’t enough.  It was

There’s always the danger that they’re going to pump up their data to support their inflated conclusions.  Still, when it comes to studies like this one, I hope they can keep it up.  There’s a vast difference between the two types.

I’m not in a place where I can listen to these right now, but I love that you were so committed to it that you posted so many examples.  I promise to come back and listen to it later.  Thanks for doing your part to add brightness.

Not in unless they bring in Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig.

You’re saying it’s your point, but I’m still claiming it as mine. Burrroughs kept the copyright. He profited from his ideas, even when he farmed the acting, directing and so forth out to others. If he hadn’t ever been able to do that, I’m not sure he would have been motivated to write all of the Tarzan novels. He

And there will be no Mike Mercury universe if I hoard the story till my death.”

So much for my dreams of having him play the Rocket Racer.

Hard disagree. Mike Mercury should be yours for your lifetime. Your product wasn’t just the book — it was the research and the creativity you put into Mike, his friends, his whole world. The Mercury Universe, as the fans call it. Nobody should be getting rich ripping that shit off. It’s not just your payday on

I believe I can answer for Homer on this one: that would be okay.

I’d go for “species bonus” but for enemy... traditional? Hereditary? My first preference is for traditional because that seems more value-neutral. From time immemorial, the kobolds have been your traditional enemy, so maybe you have bonuses against them because your people have developed tricks to fight them?

I mean, it’s cool as long as they don’t try to radio into it or anything, right?

After all, it’s not even a word.
