I’ve heard that, too, though I’ve never had a lot of success with it. I think it depends on whether or not the source of the tinnitus is objective or not. For some people, it’s essentially neurological fuzz that accompanies hearing loss or nerve damage. For me at least part of it is a real, objective sound because I

This is very interesting.  If it were pitched higher it would mimic my tinnitus, and that first part suggests it might relieve symptoms, so Imma give it a try.  If it works even a little, I’ll be thanking you for years.

Okay, (A) I agree with Dan about the slideshows. They suck.

I really enjoyed this one.  First couple of minutes I didn’t know if I was going to, but it really sucked me in for that last punch.  Well done!

But “they” had at least two jobs for hundreds of years. Shakespeare used “they” as a singular, as did Jane Austen. It’s not some new thing. (Nor is complaining about its being a new thing, or even complaining about complaining about its being a new thing, so...)

Your opinion is correct.

No wonder that kid didn’t want to give them away.

Thank you for saying this. I think my family and I enjoyed the first couple of seasons more than most did, though I will admit they were ... uneven.

Can I suggest that everyone who is outraged by this consider going out a buying an Alan Dean Foster book that he still has the rights to?

Most people

Oh, right, I do remember that now.  You’re right, it was... disturbing.  Like the director really wanted to be doing a slasher film and so took it out on the robot.  Yeah, I can see how that would mess you up.  I think by that time I was already messed up, so it just flowed past me...

Damnit, now I’m going to have to see it again, because I remember the scene in the bookstore, but not a single thing about any axe murderer scene.  Memory is dumb.  Mine, anyway...

Then when the whole global pandemic thing is over, I invite you to visit the anonymous city where Johnny 5 got his citizenship.  There isn’t any short circuit tour, not even a memorial plaque, but it’s a great city to visit.

Number 5 is Alive.  You?  Not so much...

You’re hired, kid.  Now go make magic.

That’ funny, because I remember the sequel as being immeasurably worse, but loving it all the same for (1) the scene set inside Toronto’s World’s Biggest Bookstore, and (2) the citizenship ceremony at Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square, the whole movie being filmed here but (IIRC) kinda set in a nameless American city.

For a moment I thought you were going to say she was going to be the lead in the new I Dream of Jeannie.  Which is about the only way I’d watch that.  It would be good.

Hella good shows.

Indigone forever...

What a great piece this was. Thank you for reminding me of this gem of a novel. I probably won’t reread it — too much on the pile — but I enjoyed the reminiscence.
