I think you’re totally right. And I think that’s why to some people a name mispronunciation is no big deal — because they aren’t hurting from a thousand other unnatural shocks.

What a kind and generous thing to say! Thanks, dawg!
Can I weigh in with what I hope will be a fairly nuanced response on the issue of mispronounced names and microaggressions?
Anybody know what kind of music those wind farms like?
If it weren’t for the danger of the covids, I would totally have sent my kid to this camp.
I feel for you. I used to do this a lot more when I was younger and less in control of that kind of feeling. One of the (million) good things about my wife and kids and job is that they exhaust me. I’ve been kind of back at it during the pandemic, though I think it’s more for the “revenge” thing this time around.
A Lando/Solo film? I mean, okay, but I thought that was mostly subtext...
I didn’t notice your reply until now — sorry about that. Thanks for pointing out the thing about Bright, which I haven’t seen.
I find it hard to comment on the Drow stuff in particular as I’ve never been all that interested in Forgotten Realms stuff, so I’m not knowledgeable about it.
I really like that tweet.
Not to mention break hearts.
I watched those all so, so much when I was a kid. Now you’re making me want to watch them all over again.
The one about the stalwart maidens and gentle sons?
What’s the worst that could happen?
If you don’t see any reason to respond, perhaps you should stop responding.
You posted your opinions on the interwebs and someone disagreed and explained why you are wrong. Is this new to you?
I’m not going to spend a lot of time replying as I’m going to guess you’re not gonna really listen, but I will note one straw man: nobody is saying that Orcs = Black Americans. I mean — Americans? Seriously?
I think you’re right that it could have made for some good plot and character moments. At the same time, though, I think we were so weary of it (at the same time as we were eager for it, oddly) that the interwebs would have just bemoaned how much the season was dragging on.
Is “under my bed” on that list? If not, could we beam this information back to me as a kid.
I have honestly lost track of how many babies were spirited out of Westeros twenty-whatever years ago. The number of hopeful princes in ADwD, plus the Penelopean perils of Tyrion’s journey all began to seem like self-parody to me.
