I think it as in the Guardian that I read he cut short his stage career because he had paralyzing stage fright.  What a thing to think -- that this brilliant, sensitive, powerfully vibrating actor was afraid.  I mean, he’s had performances that have brought tears to my eyes...

Thanks for your thoughtful reply.

I’m not knowledgeable enough to debate statistics (or really anything in this particular area). I was just struck by what seemed to me a denial of anti-Black oppression in Mexico. Full disclosure: I’m Canadian, and I see such denials here all the time. Just because other countries may have lower levels of oppression

racial stereotypes have no meaning when you do not have the contexts of 400 years of oppression of Black people.

Okay, I did it this once because of the cool content, but I’m never in for a slideshow ever again.  You’ll lose me.  Please don’t do it.

Same here, but since I was a dumb middle-class white kid, I expected that now that these problems had been pointed out to me, now they would all get solved...

That would be the best plan.  And, like it or not, they should stop selling the merch.  Stop making profit from murder-porn.

I see your nuanced point here, but I submit that if you were to visit the alternate universe where they used “Black lives matter too” as the slogan, you would find that they’d have just as much trouble with supremacist trolls like the one above finding some problem with the slogan and nitpicking it to derail the

Man — that was — everything you just said was just so right.

Okay, that actually looks very helpful. I guess I could have Googled this...

Any chance you’d consider sharing those?  Because then I won’t have to pause every five minutes and ask my wife to explain the relationships to me again...

Yeah, in retrospect, I wish I had waited a year and gotten one of those amazing deals.  I’d probably love the thing even more.

I know I’m in the minority here, but man do I ever love my Google Pixel Slate. Yes, I wish it were 100g lighter, and yes, I wish Google could make tablet mode a little nicer, but, wow, I can use this thing just about all day. Okay, first of all, this was an extremely enlightening post. Thank-you for writing it.

When the Voyager version of this list went up last week, I was critical of those who jumped in with the “there are no must-watch episodes” comments. I was all, “Stop telling people they shouldn’t enjoy something, ‘kay?

I loved this so much I went and bought the book.  Looks like ideal shelter-in-place reading.

I know there’s a lot of Voyager hate around, but my wife and I consulted a different “must-watch” list a few months ago, and enjoyably watched quite a few episodes with our twelve-year-old, usually on Tuesday pizza night. We liked it.

there’s no way of saving groups of tabs or bringing them back as a group after you’ve closed them.

I’ve liked some of his short stories, but I find his novels very moving as well. Heart-Shaped Box gave me more creeps and chills than King usually does, and I’ve been a devoted reader ever since. Sometimes he seems a little too indebted to his father, but I still think he does it hella good. At this point, I’m pretty
