It clearly states in the article that the airspace over the fires is restricted, so yes, the drone operator is absolutely to blame here. Terrible take.

This is a really dumb take.
It’s been confirmed - it was an idiot Instagrammer.
Well, now I’m mad we’re wrecking stuff we’ve borrowed! I mean, I’m glad we’ve still got our fleet of ten, but jeez..... This is a valuable asset, and we need it doing its job.
I believe the planes themselves were designed and built all in Canada, so it would make sense most of them live there and just get deployed out to other locations as needed.
not sure how many are in service in the US but this specific plane comes from Canada and there are 50 registered in Canada, if I’m not mistaken.
Still, drones are cool and all but people can’t be trusted on deciding when and how they should fly their drones.
The sheer scope of the destruction is wildly underreported, IMO. I dont know if the drone’s “job” was to help “fix” this underreporting and show the world just how bad it is, but killing a plane necessary to end the misery is not the best outcome of this situation.
It’s on loan from Canada.
When I saw the headline, I figured that idiot drone operators were just making it unsafe to take off. But an actual *collision* damaging the aircraft that badly? I’m furious! These planes are extraordinarily precious; there are only 10 in service in the US, including this one. When they find that drone pilot, he or…
Well I hope the dude got some nice shots, and I hope he will get some nice sides on his mug shot as well, because the “For the Views” social media doofus’s have been the bane of existence for quite some time.
If you are going to do this, it needs to be done Tomorrowland People Mover style. A string of pods that people can jump on and off at each station. The idea of using cars with drivers is just ridiculous!
What happens when somebody breaks down or rear ands somebody and starts a battery fire? With no ventilation, walkways, escape tunnels, or emergency lighting, the result will be...fiery death!
You beet us to it.
So when this dumb thing inevitably collapses, entombing a bunch of drunk partygoers in burning steel coffins under a thousand tons of sand, how much of my taxes will go to fixing it and paying off the liabilities of everyone involved?
To the Tourism Board, FAFO.
And that’s supposed to be a bad thing?
That would be unfortunate.
Only problem with the tunnels filling in by themselves is they’ll likely take a resort or three with them.
A lack of care for employees and riders? Yep, seems about on-brand for ‘ol Muskie.
Nah. Vegas is the home of more hustles and boondoggles than any of us can possibly count. I’m very confident that Musk’s subterranean boondoggle will serve as the example that nobody will be willing to follow in the future.
