Thank you. Good to know I’m not alone in that opinion.

Quantum of Solace is actually not that bad. It’s just very forgettable.

Makes a large story universe suddenly seem like a very small town with a gossipy past and some sort of feudin.' Which can be fun, but isn't necessarily meaningful, and definitely makes the participants look silly and self involved.

Thank you, I’m glad this was the first comment I saw.

This is a trend with storytelling nowadays generally where there is this idea that character backstory is all important and must inform nearly everything you see on screen and we’ve seen it grow in the popular culture from the moment Vader revealed himself to be Luke’s father.

I feel like it’s more likely they were influenced by the way Skyfall was a huge hit and it was mostly about the personal feud between M and Silva.

Don’t. It’s bad. Like, latter day Roger Moore bad. Even the stunts are listless. Seriously. Bond chasing the bad guys in a plane down a mountain is boring. That’s how much it fails.

wow. thats amazing. every one his written works has those same undertones. how do these people keep getting work?

...also, i just miss this:

Skyfall was in no way essentially a good film. It was shit awful.

I think they’ve been influenced, in a bad way, by the way in which Doctor Who and Sherlock seem to feel that most stories must be about the Doctor and Holmes, rather than about the central mystery. A mistake in all three series, but especially with regard to Mr Bond.

Ugh, I’m not going to waste my time watching this dog.

Hmm. Really don’t know what to make of that episode. It seems to have completely dropped whatever angle it was taking on immigration (let’s not start that argument again) last episode and instead has decided to shift its view onto Jihadis instead. Personally I saw it as weak as last week’s argument as well.

Goldfinger. Fits the classic definition of a good movie: three good scenes (crotch-laser, golden girl, Fort Knox fight) and no bad ones (0). I'd say it also has the best song and the the best overall musical score of any Bond film Its only flaw: it established a template so effective that the producers grew to regard
