I'll take the Impala, but hold the low-ri-duh please. I'd rather do it up lead-sled style. That may not be hell enough for Jalopnik, but plenty hell for me.

Any word on how he plans to fund that $4 billion stimulus package? Perhaps a good start would be making the Bush tax cuts permanent and throwing in a hefty cut in capital gains taxes for good measure.

@yellofury * * * * *: Thank you for that. The audio from that little video will be enough to keep me going through carb syncing, windshield replacing and whatever else will need to be done on that beautiful machine. And when I'm done for the evening I can go inside and have a cold drink over the glass-top coffee table

Nice set of photos there, Mr. Taylor. Thanks for sharing!

@mechimike: A LUV not as ugly? That's a matter of opinion.

How about primer gray, or matte black?

What the... Artificially low? You can't be serious. I thought this was Jalopnik, not Treehugger.

@I'm not for Ford's idea — 4 cylinders in a full-size American pickup? What are you smoking? — But must second the nomination for COTD; @GiltProto: Good one!

That is flippin' awesome. A-plus for character. Love the flat black, the fins, the multi-taillight thing going on, the hitch... I'm with @buttons: if you gotta drive a crappy machine, make sure it's a uniquely crappy machine.

Wow dang that was fun to watch. That guy is one heck of a driver!

Bah: Slow down, save fuel, spend less at the pump, and maybe the price goes down. Side effect is that you pay less in taxes. Bureaucrats in turn see a drop in revenue from fuel sales and they either jack up tax rates or set up toll booths. So mox nix — we'd be paying the same either way.

The LUV? Seriously? Please tell me they're not really bringing back that name. Dang but I hate that name.

Or maybe use wood for various body panel skins; seems that wood products come pretty cheap from that part of the world.

"... if Doug's claims turn out to be valid, we plan on turning in our engineering card..."

@CSX321: Wow; those things look big with the trucks wheels & cab as a reference. I'd like to see an old Challenger parked next to a new one; I'm thinking it'll look tiny in comparison to these monsters.

It's called BEAT? After seeing the emblem on the back, I thought it was BERT — what a strange name for a car, but I kinda like it anyway.

Yup; BMW wins this one. But how the heck did #5 even make it into the contest? 6 minutes of yawns waiting for something to happen. Raw footage is all good & fine, but sheesh.

Did you feel it? I felt it.
