Tell me about it, haha. I was pretty stuck on the sedan only bit until I test drove it. It’s fun.

10-12" of powder (possibly more but that’s the extent of my experience) is quite manageable, as is 6-8" of the heavy wet stuff - as with any car, good tires make all the difference. More than that and you’ll run out of clearance; hell, you probably won’t want to be on the road anyway. My front bumper has done plenty…
I’m surprised I had to scroll this far to find a turbo Subaru. I’ll contribute my WRX in winter mode:
The last production based car to ever win at Le Mans? I think the Mclaren F1 GTR would like a word on that one.
Can confirm.
I’ll have you know that the brim of my hat is not completely flat, and I drink Red Bull, not Monster, thankyouverymuch.
I was pleasantly surprised by the number of Subarus on the list. I didn’t buy my WRX because of the safety ratings (because I consider pretty well all cars sold presently to be plenty safe) but it’s nice to see it among the top picks nonetheless.
Good point about the non-dedormable barrier, I hadn’t thought of that.
That STI will be running a version of the FA20DIT, not the old EJ20, which hasn’t seen use since the mid 2000's WRX.
While I’m mostly for improving safety, the necessity of this test is questionable, imo. The small overlap crash test was implemented to improve protection for the occupants in the even of a car straying over the centre line, resulting in the driver’s sides of the incoming vehicles meeting unacrimoniously.
To be fair, Apple price gouges everyone so they don’t need to hold on to their products for fear of not having charged enough. :p
Since this isn’t a segment I’m even remotely considering as a future vehicle, my interest is only with the all new direct injected turbo flat four that’s mentioned.
I got 6.4l/100km average over the two years and 50,000 km I owned my Golf. As mentioned already, it’s quicker than one might expect too. Great car and with 7-800km range I’d say it would be a great option for a longing former TDI owner.
The current WRX has the filter in the same location (it’s engine is from the same family as the FR-S/BRZ/86), it’s great.
The quotes are valid, I said as much above, but other comments from the same interview, ones where he expects the team will be better as the season starts and where he downplays some of the technical issues harped on by this article, are omitted.
The same is true of Jalopnik (and many if not most other publications, really). If you read more of Alonso’s comments he comes off as far more optimistic than it is presented as here.
That was a very delayed reaction to the rear end letting go. By the time he noticed and tried to correct it was a lost cause. He’s very lucky it came to such a gentle stop too.
Since the 2018 hood that one buyer received accidentally matched up pretty well width wise with the current grille, I would suggest that the new grill is actually narrower at the bottom than the current unit, as opposed to wider at the top as suggested in the article.
I’ve only ever attended one C&C event, here’s a Chaser from the May event from Toronto last year.
