If this was one solid structure it would suggest there would not be convertible variant of the upcoming cars but it looks like at least part of the windshield frame is a separate piece that can be substituted for a roofless car.

I wrote a little article on this model a couple of years ago. It was shared on Jalopnik then but for those who haven’t read it, take a gander here: http://oppositelock.kinja.com/the-lesser-known-slantnose-1539572513
Find a scrap yard or metal recycler, they’ll have one. My guess is 1800lbs.
I’m fairly sure that’s actually the popular opinion. Another example: the S13 180/240SX.
No refresh for the WRX that I’m aware of, the only 2017 change I do know is Lapis (Galaxy) Blue being removed from the pallette, which is a piss-off because that’s the colour I wanted.
Busy between work and house renovating but the latter is nearing completion and I should have my Subie around Christmas so life is good. Yourself?
Bought new: 2015 Golf (pictured), 2017 WRX (anxiously waiting, currently being built and/or shipped).
More on your Aussie bike adventure please.
I drive a Volkswagen. Naturally, my car’s favourite tool is my wallet.
I’d like to point out that this is F1 technology (the electric compressor = MGU-H and the starter/assist motor = MGU-K) translating directly to road vehicles, probably the first we’ve seen coming from the current turbocharged/hybrid engine formula. Much as I dislike the noise they produce, this technology transfer is…
This is why I live rurally: having neighbours is the actual worst.
I think I can clarify the tie-in to Top Gun a bit. The equipment on top of the cars here:
This, after some slight toning down of that snout and the interior fancies, will be the new Touareg and the drive train pretty much guarantees a GTE model.
He’s not full of shit, and did say the Cayman was “detune[d] a little less” than the Boxster, meaning the Cayman always had more power, as you said. Granted, that can be a bit confusing, but cool your jets iceman.
Just curious, is this the full month of sales for the Mustang there? It’ll be interesting to see if it can become sustained demand or if this is just pent up demand that will waiver.
You son of a bitch. Reading the headline I got my hopes up for a hard-top coupe version of the Miata. Alas, it’s a foldy hard-top rather than a fixed roof. I was surprised that I could fit myself into the ND and have some hope of driving it but a true coupe with [hopefully] ever so slightly more room to move the seat…
Of course there’s still value in making the car as light as possible before adding the driver and ballast, I never said there wasn’t. In F1, the car will always be made as light as possible within the regulations and their ability. I just said that it’s pointless to state that the car can meet the minimum weight…
Yeah, the cars are pushing up in weight with the current powertrains but as those are optimized I suspect that trend will begin reversing again, allowing further ballasting.
Kinda pointless to state that an F1 car coming in at the required minimum weight (including the driver) is ‘a true lightweight’, don’t you think?
I think it’s fairly safe to say there are significantly more people stancing VWs than those brands. Those stancers love to smash their oil pans and then complain about their fragility.
