Go us with the shit childhoods and the still functional in our adult lives. We're like a flower that grew out of a pot of dirt. ;P

I feel the same way - my parents gave me a crash course in "what not to do", but I think I had other relationship role models, my sister and her partner.

Was going to be my first question too.

Yes, "slut and yang" the two opposing, yet intertwined forces of our universe.

It is. Unlike it's tropical brethren the pineapple.

My husband likes to put banana on home-made pizza - I think it's disgusting so he only puts it on half, but that tropical stank gets into the crust of my half.

I got married just over two weeks ago but have not begun the legal process to change my name. Changed it on Facebook though. Maybe as I replace important things like passports and other shit that expires, I will change it legally. However I am going to graduate with my Master's soon - but haven't decided whether to

Aw. Reading the title I assumed the "don't say gay" bill would be to stop people using the word "gay" for "lame" or otherwise derogatory speech. Let's change it to that.

I maybe forgetting Lisbeths childhood or some other significant part of the story, but didn't she "start" kick ass and THEN get raped?

Sexy jinx!!

Because you've quoted the Jezebel article, not the one published in Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy, this is probably an example then of journalists screwing up the correlation/causation issue, rather than scientists! Even so, I think scientists can get away with language like "may" or "it appears" in journal

OMG so was mine! September 16th. I told my friends this in a girly confession-time conversation just the other week and oh how they laughed. Mine was not so much an "I'm going to die a virgin" but I do remember my boyfriend (also a virgin) saying "Well, I suppose this isn't the MOST significant thing to happen in the

Hahaha yes actually I kinda AM for adoption over bringing more people into the world. I'm not going to actively protest people having kids, but from a philosophical standpoint that is totally where I'm at. I don't mean breed specific-rescues either, as it appears that you do, I mean real, pound-puppy rescues.

That's what I thought too - if you come out then you have to accept to a certain extent that there will be people who don't like it, judge you and say/do awful things to you. You'd have to be generally ok (to a point, having done the work on it) about not taking to heart too much what others think. If I could do that

Even a "good" breeder is inbreeding and taking homes away from rescues, so yeah I've always been pretty black and white on this one. And no, not "just" this documentary is enough, but also plenty of my own post graduate research on the matter, which I though the doco just kind of summarised quite nicely.

This documentary was actually a very good one and contained a lot of well-known animal welfare scientists and authors I recognise widely from published animal welfare journals.

Inbreeding is inbreeding yo. Go the hybrid vigour!!

Now playing

My close friends and I always call each other dude. I blame South Park/BASEketball from when we were growing up:

This word is used a lot more casually down under here in NZ and Australia and almost affectionately: "Oh you silly cunt."

I don't mind any so long as I'm not referred to as "m'am"... I'm under 30 goddammit and it makes me feel old! "Sir" just doesn't have the same problem.
