Please don't tell people to "drive safe". I was in a major car accident when I was young and before it happened, relatives told us to "drive safe" and I got a weird heebie-jeebie from it. And driving "safe" doesn't actually stop an accident if there are people driving on the wrong side of the road determined to crash

and by that she doesn't mean "get some".

I'm staying home because one of my pets has badly injured her paw and will need pain killers and woo-woos. :(

Are you kidding me? Vegan food IS carbs. It is the fillingest of all foods. And there are plenty of gluten free carbs too like corn, potato etc though I will admit combining the two does make it difficult. I have a miserable time when I'm at a wedding and everyone is eating carvery food and asking me why I'm not doing

Ominvores can "eat before the wedding if they are so affronted" that one meal won't contain animal products. It omnivores don't have to cater to vegans, vegans don't have to cater to omnivores.

I can't even read all the comments on here - suffice it to say we seem to be collectivley pretty disgusted by this article. Dissing Offbeat Bride is just not on, it is a fun, supportive community that shows women they don't have to have the boring, expensive, cookie-cutter wedding that society expects them to have. It

Fuck that noise. If I throw a party on my own dime, you can bet your ass my dime won't be contributing to animal suffering so yes, my guests will be eating vegan food for that one day. It will be delicious food, and there will be plenty to go round, but my consideration to my guests does not extend to their personal

Thank you. Do people honestly not have a good time at a party just because no suffering went into their food? Give me a fucking break.

No one has said that we ought to be catered to, we're just saying it won't KILL a non-vegan to eat vegan food for ONE meal at a vegan wedding. Maybe they'll see what it's like to not have their dietary needs catered to all the time, like vegans have to do.

I totally agree - our wedding in about three weeks will serve only vegan Japanese food and it is not rude to our guests to do this. I have been to plenty of weddings where there was nothing or just sides for me (plus a side order of a billion and one fucking questions about my diet when I'm supposed to be in polite

OMG let us write these!!!!

Yeah but she always bought a paper bag lunch because she was vegetarian - in a 2012 remake she would be gluten intolerant instead.

+1 - she needs to read her some Ben Goldacre, like, yesterday.

I had moved house enough times in my life that by the time I left home at the age of 18 I knew well enough how to pack up a room. I took everything that I wanted and everything else got thrown away/given away/sold. If I hadn't, my mother would have only done it when she next moved anyway!!

My mother and my best friend both have birthdays the week before xmas - I always made an effort to give them something the day of and always, ALWAYS make sure it was in birthday, not Christmas wrapping paper! My birthday is in February and even I used to get combined gifts! Annoying!!

Wow, I just read about that now - he makes a very fallacious argument as well as being kind of a dick about it. I probably have more of a problem with the first bit, but, just wow. I guess I get particularly snarky with white, western dudes who want a cookie for treating women "better than those Muslim folk".

Not all passions mean that you'll have to be living with your parents at 30. We don't all aspire to do arty, creative or vague things that don't pay well, if at all. My jobs have all been pretty meagre pay, but enough to live on if I'm careful to live within my means and not for example, buy a brand new car on finance

I'm sure he hurts a lot of peoples feelings when he says unapologetically that God does not exist, but I'm not sure he's actually being an asshole.

You need to read the Dawkins I was talking about. There is much evidence to suggest that being inherently "good" is in our DNA. And we're not the only animals who practise altruism, so I doubt that "society" is actually what makes us good at all.
