In future discussions about box office, can we just please skip the very boring requirement that a specific set of people who are almost certainly all single guys show up to state how they prefer watching movies at home?

The success of Spider-Man, Transformers, Guardians of The Galaxy and a few other films shows that’s not the reason. People will turn out for films they genuinely want to see. They just didn’t want to see this. It’s got very little to do with streaming.

The problem for Disney/Pixar is that it can’t lean on “well, people are just waiting for home” because Universal has had some massive animated box office hits post-pandemic (Mario, Minions, Puss in Boots) even though those too drop on Peacock after six weeks or so, so demand is there, but whatever Disney & Pixar has

A lot of people seem angry at this fluff superhero movie for a lot of weird reasons.

Well that was an in-depth article.

This dude really wrote six angry paragraphs about Reddit drama and ended it by calling other people “keyboard warriors.”

The small minority here are largely mods that depend on third party apps that aid in moderating subreddits. It has little to do with avoiding ads and everything to do with having good tools that remain absent on the main app.

That “small minority” is an all-volunteer work force that keeps Reddit functional. The mods go away, the site goes away. You have genuinely no idea how much free labor Reddit is just throwing out the window with this move.

That’s not whats happening at all. That’s one of the biggest problems in the world these days: People who take sides in something they dont understand.

It’s unpopular and also missing important context about the pricing and context. Remember that Reddit only had value because these mods do millions of hours of work for absolutely no pay whatsoever. Reddit only has value because of their input. Also, Reddit isn’t merely charging enough to cover their costs, they’re

Except you’re missing the larger, more important issue:

“Now, please let all of the uber-entitled keyboard warriors eager to take up the cause of the week flame me below. Your rage fueled tirades will only serve to make me laugh.”

I like how you write your own tirade and then just immediately, preemptively shut down any possible response by dismissing them as written by

I used to use Reddit on my phone from time to time... in my browser. Recently, it told me the mobile site is now read-only and I had to download the app to login and post. Instead of doing that, I just stopped using it. They really want you to download that app.

Late stage capitalism is a real slap in the face, yeah.

Relevant Reddit posts are my go-to for any hobby related question because the first five Google results are sponsored, maybe the first 2 are relevant, and the other half of the front page is exactly as you said, aggregated and unhelpful SEO manipulating pages that offer no help.

The internet was a better place before it was raped by capitalists.

Nothing screams “I’m not bothered or riled up” like a wall of text about how funny it is to you. Reddit is (soon to be was) a platform run by its users, ya dink. All your presuppositions are wrong

Theres one little problem with this argument. The issue isn’t that Reddit wants to charge for it’s API, but that the amount they want to charge is astronomical and way higher than other websites such as Imgur, and the extremely short timeline they gave with pricing information.

I hate how many of the things I’ve liked over the years turning into complete garbage in the name of pumping stockholder value by any means necessary

In regards to the right place to find an answer to something, thats 100% sure. Trash Websites have gotten so good at SEO that it’s ruined things like google.
