Before I say this, I want to say I love Final Fantasy IX. While it might not be my most "most favoritist ever," I'm a big fan of the series and, as the second I ever played, it holds a special place for me with the best overall soundtrack in the series.

I always tell people who are fans of the old school Final Fantasies to try the mobile-only Dimensions. It has a job system that channels V and would be great for fans of Bravely D. It really is a solid game that reminds me of all the best parts of the Super Nintendo era titles.
