A follow up to Project M will be sick. Looking forward to playing this myself. Hopefully, it’s something people can release as easily as they did PM.

Man, Scrub Quotes sure can find a lot of good material in these comments. Melee is hype and it’s viewership backs this up. I believe Melee viewers peaked at around 125k last night. I don’t think any EVO game on the Saturday slot has achieved this. Smash 4 had like 75k last year.

Melee in 2017 is going to be insane. The first month of the year already has one of the best sets I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I feel like it’s going to be a hard set to surpass, but I also believe it’s going to be surpassed on numerous occasions. The skill ceiling is ridiculous.

These are amazing. I need one. Take my money Red Bull/NIntendo!

Melee.

For those of you that don’t get it. It’s a sequel that improves on Melee in a lot of ways. It’s also more accessible to newcomers and the character balance, at least for now, is more diverse.

I think everything you’ve said is fair, but I don’t think the average eSports viewer is into the more nuanced aspects of competitive Smash/Melee. I think this video does an awesome job capturing the ‘current’ scene for those players that may just want to jump in, today.

Watched those matches live and it was nuts! People were going crazy. Sandstorm gave us a glimpse of the next era of Smash and it’s insane.

I don’t know if my previous comment disappeared or if I’m double posting.

How is it pandering?

Love all the Smash content, keep it coming! Melee hype is at an all time high and Smash 4 will have an opportunity to show it's potential at EVO. So you will have much more to cover.

Thanks for sharing the stories of the Smash Community. I think you do a good job being neutral and sharing the situations as you see

Sure, but that's not really supposed to be the take away.

Of course Melee wouldn't have been as successful or relevant with out Smash 64, but it was the advancements the game made between 64 and Melee in addition to the gaming climate at the time and just the techniques available in Melee that was the perfect storm.

They talk about the original in episode 2 or 3.

Yup, already backed it! Game looks great! It would be awesome for a site like Kotaku to post about it. I believe the Smash Community just needs a nudge that we can totally make a new Smash game to get more involved and ADO is looking to be perfect to fill the void.

Depends on how your define 'depth.' I know the competitive community of Tekken players in Arizona used to consider Smash (Melee) to have too much depth.

Now playing

For those of you interested in the concept for Tactical Role Playing Games being mixed with Card game concepts check out the trailer for my own game:

Great article! It's good to see stories about accessible gaming!

It'd be nice if this came to America. I'm sure it will. I wish someone would make a modern day JRPG that wasn't so dark.

In high school I recall a Friday in which my friend and I got home from school around 4/5 pm and played Harvest Moon till around 9 a.m. on Sunday.

I seriously hate how cute this game is coming together, I loved Okami and really appreciate how much love this game (series now?) gets even with low sales numbers.
