Man, this 4-0 team with a patchwork receiving core that has a bad case of stonehands, who are decimated with injuries and have made the playoffs in 10 of the last 12 seasons just can't catch a break.

Granted giving the starting job to a guy with less than a season's worth of starts is always a risky move Alex Smith had 8 seasons (eight!) and over that time lost his starting job to a number of scrubs. He never got the job done and was never going to be the answer.

If only there was some way the D'backs could have prevented this from happening themselves.
